| CHIHIRO MAKIO / STUDIO 314 "From an early age I have loved creating precious little things." - Chihiro Makio Boston artist Chihiro Makio first considered a career as a painter. While in college, however, she discovered the fun and endless possibilities of three-dimensional materials. Wood, fiber, glass, and metals were some of her favorites.
Makio hand fabricates her jewelry pieces using oxidized sterling silver, 24K gold-plated silver, pearls and moonstones. Chihiro's latest work, "Flora" began with a paper origami bead that she translated into metal. Her annual trips to her native Japan inspire her to add new elements and materials to her extensive collection.
