    • My imagination transforms itself from memories and personal stories. Painterly surfaces and sculptural forms influence my contemporary jewelry aesthetic. Assisting my elderly mother with hand sewing and the traditional ways for the preparation of food helped to shape my hand skills. The shaping of rice cake and arranging vegetables for winter storage enhanced my visual aesthetic. My previous work experience as an editor/reporter and art curator has broadened my knowledge and interpretation of contemporary jewelry. Calligraphy and sewing serve as my fundamental techniques, which I have practiced throughout my lifetime. Calligraphy has always fascinated me in how the brush stroke touches and enlivens the surface of a paper or fabric. Black ink lines and patterns often reveal meaningful symbols, letters or poetic landscapes. The collaboration between metal and various fiber materials enhance my ability to create. Materials have their own character and offer many unique shapes, colors, patterns and textures. I challenge myself to emphasize the special characteristics and beauty of materials while expanding the boundaries in creating an original identity for my jewelry art forms

Minnow-Keshi Pearl Necklace by Sarah Mcguire

    $180.00

    • Minnow- Keshi Pearl Necklace by Sarah McGuire

Tiny keshi pearl with 18k ring details, on oxidized silver chain.

Pinned pearl measures approximately 1/4" long
      Chain measures 16" with S-clasp

      Handmade in Chicago, IL

    • New York-schooled, Chicago-based jewelry designer and metalsmith Sarah McGuire finds inspiration in organic forms, manmade curiosities and classic modernist design. Growing up in New England, Sarah spent her summers on the beaches of Cape Cod and coastal Connecticut, collecting objects and absorbing the landscape that would later inform her work as a jeweler.

From her timber-loft studio, the designer and a small team craft each piece of jewelry by hand. Sarah uses recycled metal – primarily high-karat gold and sterling – mixing it with linen, leather, rough gemstones and diamonds that are conflict-free and responsibly sourced.

With its emphasis on both design and craftsmanship, Sarah’s spare, organic work rewards scrutiny without clamoring for attention. Her goal is to make timeless, meticulously crafted pieces that can be treasured for years to come.

    • Hannah has been creating jewelry since she was a young child. The daughter of a fisherman and a seamstress, Hannah was raised in the tradition of hand skills, hard work, and dedication. In their weathered island home, she and her six siblings learned how to entertain themselves amidst the chaos that comes with such a large family. The dingy fishing paraphernalia that littered their backyard was a playground of inspiration: gritty snapshots of beauty against the clean backdrop of their hometown of Nantucket. These familiar moments inspired her to create beauty of her own.

With the help of a bead book she was given as a gift, Hannah started making simple earrings and necklaces for her friends and family. Over time, her basic designs evolved into sophisticated metalwork. She graduated from Umass Dartmouth in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in Jewelry/Metals. Immediately upon graduating, Hannah built up her studio and began Hannah Blount Jewelry.

      Center sphere measures 5/8" x 5/8”

      Handmade in Somerville, MA

    • Chihiro Makio has always loved creating precious little things, even from an early age. At first she thought she would become a painter when she started college as a studio-art major. There she discovered great fun and endless possibilities with three-dimensional materials. She learned how to work with wood, fiber, and metal. Transferring to a different school gave her the opportunity to meet another material: glass. Chihiro Makio completed a bachelor's fine art degree at the Massachusetts College of Art as a glass major with a minor in small metals/jewelry. Since then she has won several awards, including Saul Bell Design Awards from 2003 through 2007, and Niche Award in 2005.
