    • Terri Logan states, "My work is based on formal concerns, design and function. I make jewelry because of the intimacy the function allows. I use metal and stones (river rocks) because they are inherently strong materials. The combination of metal and stone allows me to integrate the industrial and organic elements of our world. These materials are rich in their historic value, and intrinsic to our growth as a civilization; their abundant character, separate or in relation to each other, offers me infinite possibilities as a language."

    • My imagination transforms itself from memories and personal stories. Painterly surfaces and sculptural forms influence my contemporary jewelry aesthetic. Assisting my elderly mother with hand sewing and the traditional ways for the preparation of food helped to shape my hand skills. The shaping of rice cake and arranging vegetables for winter storage enhanced my visual aesthetic. My previous work experience as an editor/reporter and art curator has broadened my knowledge and interpretation of contemporary jewelry. Calligraphy and sewing serve as my fundamental techniques, which I have practiced throughout my lifetime. Calligraphy has always fascinated me in how the brush stroke touches and enlivens the surface of a paper or fabric. Black ink lines and patterns often reveal meaningful symbols, letters or poetic landscapes. The collaboration between metal and various fiber materials enhance my ability to create. Materials have their own character and offer many unique shapes, colors, patterns and textures. I challenge myself to emphasize the special characteristics and beauty of materials while expanding the boundaries in creating an original identity for my jewelry art forms

      Blue, Green, and Purple.

The process begins by transferring a design onto tissue paper which is glued to a thin sheet of sterling silver. The outside edges of the piece are cut to the specifications of the design and accents. The Silver is oxidized to a steely gray color by dipping it into a malodorous solution of Liver of Sulfur. Then rubbed with pumice or steel wool to burnish it to a soft glow.

      Pin measures approx. 1 1/2"w x 1 1/4"h.

      Handmade in New York

    • The technique that I specialize in is Champlévé, (this is a French term meaning “raised fields”). Enameled objects date back to the early part of the first millennium and were found throughout the ancient world. In the champlevé technique, recessed areas are created for the enamel, either by construction, casting, etching, or engraving.

The transparent enamels I work with are imported from Austria, Japan and France. These vitreous enamels are specifically designed to tolerate the rapid changes in temperature that occur when a piece is fired, going from room temperature to 1600 degrees in a matter of seconds. The enamels fuse to the metal in a similar way that a glaze fused to a pot.

    • Elise Moran of EAM Jewelry is inspired by natures perfect design. Since 1993, she has explored translating the complex and balanced forms found in nature into small metal sculptures to be worn and to adorn. It is one of her favorite challenges...to see a beautiful flower or branch and to figure out how to recreate it in silver and gold. The results are whimsical, delicate pieces that imbue a classic elegance that will flatter those who wear them.
