Filomena Demarco

After graduating with a BFA in metals from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston, I started Filomena Demarco Jewelry, based in Somerville, MA and named for my great-grandmother, a fearless business woman in a time when women weren’t traditionally in business. When I began making jewelry, I found my interest was in creating wearable sculpture and that my inspiration was being drawn mainly from colors and forms found in nature. As I continue to develop and deepen my technical aptitude and style, utilizing the techniques of electro-forming, lost wax casting and various methods of fabrication, my initial inspiration remains, and I continue to draw from and incorporate elements found in nature in new and exciting ways. All of my pieces are handcrafted using sterling silver, gold, and/or natural gemstones. My jewelry has been included for publication in Lark Books, "500 Series", darling publications and can be purchased in galleries nationwide.
