Rose-cut aquamarine with sterling silver french hooks. All precious stones are rose-cut for maximum sparkle, set into hand-fabricated fine silver bezels.

      Measures approx. 3/4" x 1/2".

    • Chihiro Makio has always loved creating precious little things, even from an early age. At first she thought she would become a painter when she started college as a studio-art major. There she discovered great fun and endless possibilities with three-dimensional materials. She learned how to work with wood, fiber, and metal. Transferring to a different school gave her the opportunity to meet another material: glass. Chihiro Makio completed a bachelor's fine art degree at the Massachusetts College of Art as a glass major with a minor in small metals/jewelry. Since then she has won several awards, including Saul Bell Design Awards from 2003 through 2007, and Niche Award in 2005.

    • Blue-Green Tourmaline Band by Regina Imbsweiler

A blue-green tourmaline stone horizontally set in 22k gold. The band is Sterling Silver and has 22k gold vertical accents, playing with texture and pattern.

Size 8.5 in stock. Please allow 4-6 weeks for additional sizes.

      Handmade in Chamblee, GA

    • Regina's pieces are improvisations on themes of free flowing as well as classical forms. The contrast between sterling silver, often oxidized, and 22k gold inspires the play with textures and pattern. Fine wires act similar to lines in drawings, and the use of gold balls can be bold or very delicate, depending on the scale. The work displays luminous cabochon cut stones, aquamarines with their silky light, and tourmalines in a range of colors. The goal for each piece is to keep an almost simplicity, with the overall collection reflecting complex references between materials, colors, and textures.

    • Yasuko' collection focuses on earthly delights, each of which are hand carved and hand finished with her pierced work. The changing of seasons is also a driving force in her collection. She describes her diamond dust texture as trying to capture the moment on an icy cold day in winter when the motion in the air sparkles when it freezes. Yasuko replicates this feeling with light hammering which creates a glimmer of matte and shine. The essence of her designs shows through in their subtlety. The Yasuko Azuma collection attracts a broad range of women without ever being overly designed. The pieces never outshine my customers but rather enhance their diverse and inherent beauty.

    • Dry off with a towel. Do not place in the dishwasher or submerge in water. Our bowls have a food-safe finish to bring out the natural beauty of the wood. We recommend that you apply mineral oil once a month (or whenever needed) to maintain the natural beauty of the wood and to help prevent the wood from being stained.
    • Spencer Peterman is always on the lookout for fallen trees rotting in the woods. He gets excited about this kind of stuff. So do his customers. Hidden in those fallen trees, especially the ones covered by moss and dirt, is wood disfigured by the beginnings of decomposition. Turning that wood on a lathe produces strikingly unique bowls, perfect for your home or showroom. Almost all the wood we get is from locally fallen trees in Western Massachusetts, such as maple, cherry or black walnut. The maple bowls are figured by the decomposition and aging of the wood, which we call "ambrosia" or "spalted."

She layers white slip onto the area where the images will be etched, then fills in the outline with black and gray slips and etches the patterning. A red glaze is added around the drawing, and then high fired in an oxidation atmosphere. A second low fire gives the work a satin finish.
